Monteverdi 450 Series

L’Orfeo – Available on demand now
Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria
– Available on demand now
L’incoronazione di Poppea – Available from Friday 1 May

In April and May 2017 we presented the UK premiere of the Monteverdi 450 series, a landmark semi-staged presentation of Monteverdi’s three surviving operas – Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria, L’incoronazione di Poppea and L’Orfeo – to mark 450 years since Monteverdi’s birth.

The concerts at Colston Hall were named The Guardian’s best classical event of 2017, and the celebrated series went on to perform to thousands of audiences world-wide and won the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Award in the Opera and Musical Theatre Category.

During lockdown, the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra have made performances of these three astonishing operas available on demand. L’Orfeo and Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria are already available with the final opera L’incoronazione di Poppea streaming from Friday 1 May.

Devon Sproule Live Stream

Sun 3 May, 18:30

Earlier this month we would have been listening to the spellbinding vocals and poetic lyrics of Devon Sproule as she performed her dreamy songs of rural domestic bliss in Bristol Folk House. Sadly, this performance is (understandably) cancelled.

But lucky for us the Canadian/American musician has announced she’s performing a live show via her Facebook page this Sunday. Follow the link below and tune in to hear her beautiful songs contemplating the human condition through the language of nature – a much needed wholesome experience.
